How to Pick a Good Multi Level Marketing (MLM) Business

Network Marketing (Multi Level Marketing) businesses invariably come in one of two guises - ones that occasionally work and ones that work exceptionally well because they have systems in place which train members how to be successful and, more importantly, how to train others to also be successful (the power of duplication).  Needless to say, the second type is the one that invariably makes more money and is more successful.

There are two components of any successful MLM business:.
  1. Learning the business (knowledge)
  2. Building the business (action)

Learning the business:

There are a number of basic skill sets required to grow any business.
  • Presentation skills to sell and promote your business.
  • Leadership skills so that others are happy to follow in your footsteps.
  • Teaching skills so that you can teach your teams how to follow in your footsteps.
You learn how to do these effectively by reading, listening and hopefully attending a few courses.  Now, obviously it would be nice if the more you learnt the easier building your business got but the reality is that it seldom works out that way.  To make a success of a network marketing business there must be a systematic way of educating everyone who is brought into the business and a daily operational routine that can be followed in order to build the business.

Individuals though are all different.  We all have different skill sets, different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, personalities etc so what one person find easy to do may not come so easily to someone else.  Very few of us in fact are the complete all round marketing package.  We need to work on certain areas to improve them and this is the type of training that is generally missing from many routine training regimes but can be addressed by the use of member forums where more experienced members share their knowledge and expertise with others in a way that is not covered by more formal training elements.

Building The Business:

The activity part of building the business comes down to a number of factors which need to be consistently applied:.
  • Presentation - the ability to present your business to prospective customers and clients successfully so that they are happy and eager to join up.
  • Recruiting - the ability to get people to join your business.  This includes learning the most effective ways to advertise and promote.
  • Leadership - the ability to lead other people and show them how to successfully work and build a business.
And this is where the 'learning' part of the equation becomes so important.  Well designed marketing programs that incorporate a progressive education system into their structure work well.  This is because they address each of the skill sets required to actively grow a business and teach people, step by step, how to do it and how to get better at doing it.  If you don't teach people how to do this then the odds of your business growing are considerably reduced.

How you learn the business:

An effective training system follows a logical progression from getting started right through to teaching how to teach others the same procedures.
  • Getting started
  • Surviving the first month
  • Achieving the first promotion
  • Training to teach others the same system (duplication)
A training program that does this effectively ensures that each new member who comes on board is started right and understands the benefits of progressive education.  It teaches them right from the start how to recruit effectively, present their business effectively and duplicate effectively.
